Georgian Prime Minister meets with his Azerbaijani counterpart - UPDATED

Novosti-Azerbaijan reports with reference to the press service for Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers that Artur Rasizade and Vladimir Gurgenidze met in the framework of the working visit of the Georgian Prime Minister to Azerbaijan.

The sides discussed prospects of cooperation, construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars railway line, delimination of borders, problems on the customs points.

At the meeting Artur Rasizade noted that Azerbaijani-Georgian relations, which are on the level of strategic partnership, are actively developing in all directions and it is necessary to maintain permanent contacts between the leaders of different departments and share views on regional and international policy.

In turn, Vladimir Gurgenidze said that he pays his first visit as a Prime Minister to brother Azerbaijan with which relations are developing in all spheres.

"This is proven by the growing commodity turnover between the two countries, which made up $500,000,000 last year", he noted.

The Georgian Prime Minister invited Artur Radizade to visit Georgia.

Georgian Prime Minister's visit to Azerbaijan started this morning.

Before the meeting Gurgenidze visited Honored Alley and put flowers to the grave of National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.

In the framework of a one-day visit Gurgenidze will also meet with President of the State Oil Company Rovnag Abdullayev. During the meeting the sides plan to discuss cooperation in energy sector.

The due announcement was made by the third secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy to Georgia Elkhan Polukhov, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

He said the visit is a working one and will last for several hours.

"The Georgian Prime Minister will meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasizade, president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Rovnag Abdullayev. The meeting participants will discuss cooperation in energy sector", the diplomat noted.

He also added that Azerbaijani ambassador to Georgia Namik Aliyev had arrived in Baku in advance to prepare for Gurgenidze's visit.

Georgian Prime Minister is expected to be received by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Vladimir Gurgenizde will return to Georgia in the midday.
