Vasily Istratov: "Bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan will further develop"

I think the relations between the two countries will be positive. Moreover, I have been informed that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has had a telephone conversation with newly elected President of Russia Dimitri Medvedev.".

The due announcement was made by Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasili Istratov, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

"I think this is a good start", he said.

He also noted that Vladimir Putin will act as a President of Russia until May 7. Answering possible conduction of the second round, the ambassador said: "The second round is impossible with such results of the first one".

It should be noted that presidential elections in Russia were held on March 2 with Medvedev gaining 51,940,599 votes (about 70%).
