Benita Ferrero-Waldner: "We want democracy in Azerbaijan to become a model for the whole region"

"We want democracy in Azerbaijan to become a model for the whole region. The European Union expects improvement of business climate in the country and development of democracy", Benita Ferrero-Waldner told reporters, according to Day.Az.

"It is important that the oil and gas revenues are utilized in transparent conditions and are balanced. We hope this would help reduce poverty rate.

Our wish is to see Azerbaijan not only as gas and oil exporter, but also as a transit for energy sources. The European Union supports the Transcaspian project and Nabucco project. We call on Azerbaijan to support these projects  and join them", she said.
