The fact of installation of bugs in the hall, where the session of Security Council was held with Ilham Aliyev's participation poses threat to the national security.
The due statement was made by Kamil Salimov, doctor of law, professor and head of the chair of criminalistics and export in war on terror, commenting on the case of the former chief of Baku airport security service, charged with high treason. He said information leakage may cause serious damage to the national security of the country depending of the degree of its importance.
"This issue is more serious than we can imagine. All countries collect confidential information about others. Azerbaijan is in the area where interests of most countries, especially super-states, collide. We ensure energy security in the region. Collection of information about the activity of Azerbaijan's government helps other countries apply preventive measures in response. For example, if Azerbaijan plans to implement any large regional project, the countries, who are against Azerbaijan's interests, may undertake counter-measures on our interests. But this is a special case. A criminal investigation is currently underway and I, as a lawyer, adhere to the principle of assumption of innocence"
He noted that the fact does not evidence the incapacity of Azerbaijani intelligence services, reminding September 11 tragedy in the USA, whose intelligence services are among the strongest in the world.
Asked whether Azerbaijan will send a note to the Kremlin, he said that the leaderships of the countries are not always informed about the activity of the intelligence services.
"President may not know about the maneuvers of the intelligence services. Such cases are regarded as unpleasing incidents in diplomacy. Russia is Azerbaijan's strategic partner and I do not consider that the incident will lead to the sharp deterioration of the relations between the two countries", he concluded.
