The execution of a contract on ordinary armed forces in Europe is a real guarantee of non-initiation of hostilities in Nagorno Garabagh.
The due statement was made by Vazgen Manukyan, leader of the National Democratic Union and candidate for President of Armenia.
Manukyan noted, speaking on the balance of powers in the South Caucasus region considering Georgia's intention to join NATO, as well as the military strengthening of Azerbaijan, that Georgia's accession to NATO depends not only on the country itself.
"The said issue touches upon global and strategic issues on this territory and its settlement is hardly possible in the near future. On the other hand, Armenia does not have any disputes with Georgia", the Armenian politician said. He added that the strengthening of the military mechanism of Azerbaijan signalizes that Armenia needs to take due steps.
"Nevertheless, the strengthening of the military potential directly depends on economic factors. If the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, which also includes Armenia, is executed, the rise in the military potential will not lead to war, as we must have equal number of tanks and aircrafts, but Russia has currently suspended it", Manukyan said.
