International conference “Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict: The role of youth in the settlement of military conflicts” started in Baku.
This two-day conference is arranged by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Youth and Sport.
It is attended by over 40 conflict analysts, explorers, representatives of international youth organizations, and media representatives from 22 countries.
While delivering speech, the Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov, stated that over 80 representatives of various nations and ethnic minorities live in Azerbaijan and they have equal rights and take an active part in the development of independent Azerbaijan, establishment of democratic society, and protection of territorial integrity.
“This tolerance in Azerbaijan and national solidarity can serve an example for all countries,” he said. Firudin Sadigov, chief of the working group of State Commission for War Prisoners, Hostages and Missing Persons noted that 4354 Azerbaijanis were missing.
“The witnesses stated that some of them are taken hostage by Armenians. But Armenia stated that there are not hostages on its territory,” he said.
He noted that 1393 people have been released from Armenian captivity so far.
Tofig Musayev, Deputy Chief of Negotiating and Legal Department under Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Kamala Imranli, official of the Department and Galib Israfilov, Deputy Chief of Security Affairs Department informed the participants about the history of Nagorno Garabagh conflict, location of Armenians in Azerbaijan and deportation of Azerbaijanis from present-day Armenia.
