EU makes statement on media freedom in Azerbaijan

In its statement, the EU expressed concern on criminal defamation suits in the country which it assesses as limitation of media freedom.

"The EU fully subscribes to the clear and strong reaction of the OSCE Representative for the Freedom of Media, Miklos Haraszti, to this situation. We expect positive developments as a result of Mr.Haraszti's visit. Reiterating its concern about the overall situation of the freedom of the media in Azerbaijan, the EU is looking forward to hearing from Mr.Haraszti about his visit," the statement reads. APA
