Azerbaijani President visits Pusan port and STX Corporation

The President got acquainted with the new seaport of the city of Pusan. Kvak In Sup, chief of Pusan new seaport of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry welcomed the president and gave information about the activity of Song Moon Hun seaport.

There are North, South, Gamcheon and Dadepo ports there. North and South ports receive 125 and Gamcheon and Dadepo ports receive 34 ships a day, APA reports.

The capacity of the seaport is 110,000 tonnes and 456,000 tonnes in the open air.

The port has 70,000-tonne container terminal. 4,860mln tonnes of freight are carried a day and 91.40mln. a year.

The head of state walked along the port and got acquainted with the rules of receiving and sending the goods.

Ilham Aliyev underlined that modern ports are needed to be constructed in Azerbaijan and expressed his satisfaction that experienced South Korean companies participate in the construction of a new port in Baku.

The President also visited the company of STX shipbuilding Co. in Pusan. STX is one of the biggest shareholder companies of South Korea and has four subsidiaries. Their main activity direction is shipbuilding and energy business. This enterprise was established in 1962 and has totally 4600 workers. Shipbuilding company functioning in STX constructed nearly 500 ships.

This company played a great role in the Korea's becoming leader in the world in the field of shipbuilding. Containers and ships for carrying gas are constructed here. The company expanding its activity, is planning to start the construction of ferry-boats and boats carrying automobiles.

President Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the enterprise and visited separate production fields and looked at the process of construction of ships on the basis of new equipment and technologies. The head of the state said that our country's concrete cooperation with STX Corporation in shipbuilding will be useful.
