Caspian Sea littoral states meeting ends in Ashkhabad

The two-day special working group meeting on the Caspian Sea legal regime convention in the Turkmen capital of Ashkhabad ended on Tuesday afternoon.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and joint efforts to reach consensus.

The event was attended by representatives of the Caspian Sea littoral states.

At Tuesday's session, the interest of participating delegations in finalizing the draft convention of the Caspian Sea legal regime was underlined.

Meanwhile, heads of the delegations assessed the outcome of their talks as positive and stressed that they will continue such negotiation to reach final agreement.

A wide-range of Caspian Sea issues were discussed by participants and it was decided to hold the next meeting in Tehran, whose date will be announced later.

At the end of session, a joint statement was issued, according to which Tehran will host the next Caspian Sea littoral states heads of state summit. IRNA
