15 April 2007 [14:05] - TODAY.AZ
The congress of Azerbaijani Democrat Party lead by Rasul Guliyev commenced in Musavat Party's office.

Though it was decided to hold the congress in Khazar Hall, they were prevented and pro-Rasul Guliyev members decided to hold the congress in Musavat Party's office, APA reports.

Deputy Chief of Organizing Committee for Congress Akif Shahbazov noted that 380 of the 450 congress members took part in the congress.

Shahbazov made a report saying after 2005 parliamentary elections some people tried to discredit Rasul Guliyev.

Afterwards Shahbazov offered to rename ADP. He noted that organizing committee has discussed this issue.

"Rasul Guliyev considers fight for ADP's name can divert us from our targets. He offered to rename the party as Open Society Party," he said.

The proposal was approved by voting.
