Parliament considers bill on geographical names

He told APA draft law was submitted to corresponding bodies for expert recommendation. He said UN has issued a resolution on "Standardization of Geographical Names" in 1992.

"UN has a special department on this issue that was founded at the initiatives of Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Russia. Western Azerbaijan's geographical names are changed by Armenians. It takes place in Georgia too. International society will not recognize changed names of Azerbaijani territories by Armenians after the approval of this law," he said.

Fazail Ibrahimli said after experts opinion, the draft law will be debated in the parliament.
