Defense lawyers address ex-minister's trial

Trial on case of former Health Minister Ali Insanov and ten more defendants accused of embezzlement, abuse of power and bribery continued in the second part of the day at Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes.

Isakhan Ashurov, lawyer for Alexander Umnyashkin said that grave punishment was wanted for his defendant. Noting that Umnyashkin faced charges on article on embezzlement of the Criminal Code the lawyer said he was accused unjustly.

He petitioned for the court's sending resolution to General Prosecutor's Office for bringing Umnyashkin acquittal and making decision on disciplinary measure about Eldar Ahmadov and Tapdig Mahmudov.

Ilhame Hasanova, lawyer for defendant Shovgy Jafarov and Haji Aliyev approved that her defendants were given light penalty.

The process will continue on April 9, APA reports.
