Russia-Azerbaijan diplomatic relations turn 15

Deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov and Russian Ambassador Vasili Istratov held a news conference dedicated to the 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Khalafov said there is not any problem between two countries, expressing satisfaction with the strategic relations and dynamic development of mutual relations in all spheres.

He stated that bilateral agreements concluded in 1997, 2001, 2004 played important role in the development of the relations.

Deputy Minister said there is identity of positions on the fight against terrorism and aggressive separatism.

He also stressed the importance of the Russian language. "Russian is taught in 366 schools out of 4,517 schools in Azerbaijan. Over 108,000 pupils out of 1,571,566 and more than 15,000 students of 100,000 are educated in Russian," he stressed.

Ambassador Istratov also stressed that Russian-Azerbaijan relations gained positive dynamics in the past 5-6 years

Drawing attention to the continuous increase of trade turnover, he said that they will soon achieve an agreement on the two of three uncoordinated territories in the border line. APA
