Jose Luis Herrero Ansola: "Situation of media in Azerbaijan can be normalized gradually"

Commenting on the situation of freedom of expression in the country Mr.Ansola said that he is aware of the situation of freedom of media.

"Our office wants to normalize the situation on freedom of media. It requires much time. We hope that reforms will be carried out in Azerbaijan against defamation," he said.

Touching upon the situation on freedom of assembly in Azerbaijan, the OSCE representative said that there are some technical problems in this field.

"The main technical problem is executive bodies' permitting actions. We have expressed our position with regard to it. But as there is no pre-election situation this problem is not on the agenda. The problem of freedom of assembly will be on agenda during elections and we will attach much importance to it," the diplomat said, APA reports.
