Gudrat Hasanguliyev: "I don't consider the activity of Parliament satisfactory"

14 March 2007 [08:20] - TODAY.AZ
I don't consider the activity of Parliament satisfactory. Parliament can't react sufficiently to the ongoing processes in the country, support reforms and take measures on the restoration of the rule of law, the chief of United Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, parliamentarian Gudrat Hasanguliyev said.

The parliamentarian stressed that a lot of events happen to be discussed in the Parliament and expressed his regret that the parliament functions as legislative body only.

Parliament only deals with approval of draft laws of executive bodies. The preparation of draft laws in regular commission is in low level. Parliament can do much to accelerate reforms in the country, he said.

Hetold the APA that one of the shortfalls of the Parliament is the hold of meetings not at time in comparison with the second summons.

But now MPs have more time to express their thoughts. It was difficult in Murtuz Alasgarov’s time. Now deputy is allowed to make statement when he insists, Hasanguliyev said.

He also said that Parliament's bodies have taken some measures for the solution of issues raised in the Parliament.
