Noting that she had worked in Iraq before, the ambassador said fair elections had a positive influence on the development of democracy in the country.
I saw crying citizens while the elections for establishing temporary government were being held in Iraq in 2005. They said that for the first time they used their right to vote. Commenting on the US-Iraq relations Anne Derse said her country is not looking for pretext for military confrontation with Tehran.
We are not looking for pretext for military confrontation with Tehran. We have always tried to prevent Iran from the idea of making nuclear weapons with diplomatic ways. We are not against Iran's using nuclear program for peaceful purposes. A lot of countries improve their peaceful nuclear program. Neither Azerbaijan, nor the US needs Iran's having nuclear weapons. We hope that Iranian government will solve this problem in a diplomatic way. It serves the interests of Iranian government and people,” the ambassador said, APA reports.
