New building of Turkish Embassy opens

New building of the Turkish Embassy was opened in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkish Prime Minister Recap Tayyib Erdogan, leader of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mehmet Ali Talat, state and government representatives, representatives of diplomatic corpse accredited in Azerbaijan and social figures participated in the opening ceremony.

Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Huseyn Avni Garsioglu mentioned that the first Azerbaijani embassy was opened in Turkey 86 years ago and Mustafa Kamal Ataturk made speech and said "As we share sorrow and joy of Azerbaijani Turks, we are glad to see their achievements and independence".

Recap Tayyib Erdogan said Azerbaijan achieved great progress in a short time, APA reports.

Noting that there are traditional relations in political, economic, trade and humanitarian spheres between Azerbaijan and Turkey, the minister wished these relations to expand. Erdogan said that the building of the embassy is very beautiful and Turkey-Azerbaijan political relations will expand here. The Premier noted that it is one of the biggest embassies and its total area is 18,000 and close area is 7,900 square meters.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed that Turkey was the first country to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan, and then this process accelerated on international level.

Saying "Azerbaijani people always highly appreciates it and remembers", Azerbaijani President stated the first Azerbaijani foreign offices began to function in Turkish embassies.

"Which other country could open its doors for the embassies of another country? Only friend and brother country could do it," Ilham Aliyev said.

The president noted that our people have lived together for along time and stated these states are cooperating as independent states for 15 years. Ilham Aliyev underlined that within this period our states got more close to each other.

"Big projects have been implemented on our initiative and some important problems found its solution. We want Azerbaijan and Turkey to be much closer," the President noted.

At the end of the ceremony Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish Prime Minister Rajab Tayyip Erdogan raised Turkey’s flag and surveyed the building.
