07 March 2007 [16:34] - TODAY.AZ
Islamic Commission for Cultural and Social Affairs of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) adopted a resolution on the Khojaly tragedy in the session in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, The resolution was submitted by the Islamic Conference Youth Forum and adopted unanimously.

The document assesses the Khojaly tragedy, happened on February 26 in 1992, as "massacre committed by Armenian Armed Forces against civilians".

The resolution is the first legal-political document assessing the Khojaly genocide as massacre on the international level and paves the way for the recognition of the tragedy by the international community.

Secretary General of the organization Elshad Isgenderov stressed the importance of informing the international community of the humanitarian tragedies caused by the conflicts in Islamic countries, APA reports.

"Otherwise, there is no use of speaking about solidarity," he said.

Book "Karabakh: facts and results" from the series "Humanitarian tragedies in OIC countries" was published on the initiative of Islamic Conference Youth Forum last year. The presentation of the book was held in OIC Foreign Ministers' conference in Baku in 2006 and it was distributed among the representatives of 57 states and media representatives.
