Kamal Kerincsiz: "The evidences we have collected are enough to accuse Robert Kocharian and 78 terrorists"

06 March 2007 [08:35] - TODAY.AZ
Turkish Lawyers Association Chairman Kemal Kerincsiz sued Armenian President Robert Kocharian and 78 people in connection with Khojaly genocide, Kamal Kerincsiz told.

He said that he will appeal to Rome International Court, APA reports.

"Turkish Criminal Code, came into force on July 1, 2005 allows investigating the crimes committed abroad in Turkey. We are going to submit the materials concerning the Khojaly genocide to the court. The testimonies of the witnesses, articles of foreign media representatives and other proofs have been added to the criminal case. We have identified 78 suspects. One of them is Armenian President Robert Kocharian. The evidences we have collected are enough to accuse Robert Kocharian and 78 terrorists," he said.

Kamal Kerincsiz said that he is sure the court will make a positive decision.

We rely on Turkish court. But if Turkish courts make decision against Azerbaijani Turks, we will raise this issue on International Court. The Khojaly events, deportation of Azerbaijani Turks from Armenia, events happened during the occupation of Karabakh should be recognized as genocide.

Those who do not speak about the Khojaly genocide speak about something happened 90 years ago.

Kamal Kerincsiz said that there are contradictions in the government's policy with regard to Armenian problem.

"Armenian Church Vanda Akdamar is being reconstructed at the expenditure of our people; $2.2m is being spent on it. Armenians wanted to open this church on April 24 – the day of alleged Armenian genocide. It is surprising that Turkish government ignores this. We know what will follow the opening of this church," he said.
