President visits Gabala

As APA reports, the Head of the State first attended the inauguration of Heydar Aliyev Museum.

After getting acquainted with the exponents in the museum, the president made speech in front of region people. He noted that he is satisfied with exposition of the museum and architecture style. Saying that Azerbaijan made its step to development during Heydar Aliyev's period, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that special development has been observed in the region after the then president Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Gabala in 2002.

"Gabala is one of the most developed regions of Azerbaijan," Mr. Aliyev underlined.

Noting the population of the country increases, the President stated at present this indicator reached to 8, 5m.

"Some states develop very rapidly, but the population does not increase in those countries," he said.

Speaking about economic development of Azerbaijan, establishment of new institutions, Ilham Aliyev it was achieved through political stability and unite existing between people and power.

"GDP was 26% in 2005, but in 2006 this indicator was 34%. In January 2007 economic growth was 50%. The poverty level reduced by 20%, and 520,000 jobs were created within three years. Loan of $100m has been allocated for the development of entrepreneurship. If it continues this way, we will not have any problems in the country," he said.

Stressing that the implementation of international projects in the region is impossible without Azerbaijan’s participation, the president noted that, Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalak-Kars in an example of it.

"Though we have appealed to international finance organizations for implementations of this project, it was not possible to get positive answer. We took $200m commitments on ourselves on this project. This railway will create railway links directly with European states," he said.

Then President also surveyed Gabala medical diagnostic center, and attended the official opening ceremony of Gabala Cannery of "Gilan Holding".

The president was informed about annual production power of the cannery, which is 70 000tonnes. The cannery is provided with Italian-made equipment, fruit and vegetables are canned here. Then Azerbaijani president got acquainted with Gabala Trade Complex and attended the opening ceremony of the Park named after academic Zarifa Aliyeva. He talked with the elderly of the region and got acquainted with newly constructed Nohurgishlaq village school.

Having taken part in official opening ceremony of Gabala Construction Materials Producing Enterprise, the President was informed that this establishment can produce 25-30m tonnes bricks every year. The products of the plant are expected to be exported abroad.

Then the President participated in the opening ceremony of Gabala Hotel. Four-storey hotel is composed of 58 rooms and 96 places. The President noted that five-star hotels will be built there.

The Head of State ended his visit to Gabala.
