Coordination Council of Azerbaijani Diaspora in Turkey to be established

02 March 2007 [16:40] - TODAY.AZ
"Joint activities of Azerbaijani and Turkish Diasporas in foreign countries will be analyzed in the Azerbaijani and Turkish Diasporas Forum to be held in Baku next week," Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkey stated.

Pointing out some difficulties of operating separately, Ambassador Zakir Heshimov said it is more expedient for these Diasporas to operate together.

"State Committee for Azerbaijanis Living Abroad is engaged in the issue now. There are a lot of circles and Diaspora organizations in Turkey. The organizations proposed at the meeting last year to merge into a single Diaspora. The organizations in Turkey are discussing to establish a unified Coordination Council," he said.

Commenting on the incident between Azerbaijani students and left-wing groups in the Middle East Technical University, the Ambassador said the problem has been solved.

"Our students met with deputy president of the university. The incident has been figured out and there is no problem now," he noted.
