28 February 2007 [23:04] - TODAY.AZ
Today trial on case of former Health Minister Ali Insanov and ten more defendants accused of embezzlement, abuse of power and bribery continued in the second part of day at Court of Grave Crimes.

The sitting is presided over by Judge Faig Gasimov, APA reports.

Ali Insanov solicited for organizing new expertise, as the acts on the search in his house was not drawn up fairly, and demanded Kerem Hasanov, chief of the State Committee on Management of Public Property and Farhad Aliyev, former economic development minister to give testimony upon the trial. The ex-minister also wanted a microphone to give testimony.

Ali Insanov protested against the composition of the court and solicited. But his solicitation was dismissed again. The former minister declared that he is in opposition from today.

Then he answered the public prosecutor's questions. Public prosecutor Kamran Aliyev asked Ali Insanov about the causes of appealing to State Committee on Management of State Property for privatization of first department of Children's Polyclinic #15, which he removed to Bayil from Seikh Shamil St. in 2002, at the account of Vital Medical Centre.

Ali Insanov later knew that this establishment was owned by his daughter-in-law Elnara Mammadova. While answering the question of public prosecutor, ex-minister noted that he did not have any information about the privatization of Children’s polyclinic #15.

"That person used her constitutional right and privatized the establishment. I just only responded to the appeal," he said.

Then he answered to the question of prosecutor about privatization of establishments by his relatives.

"Should my relatives die of hunger? Some others occupied other spheres, my relatives occupied medical institutions," ex-minister said.

He also answered the questions on causes of privatization of the caf? and drug store of Lung-Diseases Institute and said that the commission under the Health Ministry proposed to privatize the places, and then they did it.

The trial will continue on March 1.
