Dutch police refuse Armenians' appeal for halting international conference on Khojaly genocide

26 February 2007 [12:33] - TODAY.AZ
An incident occurred during the international conference on Khojaly genocide organized in The Hague by Igdir municipality and Azerbaijani Consulate General to Kars, the conference organizer, head of Igdir municipality Nureddin Aras stated.

He said that the Armenian Diaspora in the Hague tried to impede the conference. They officially appealed to the Netherlands Interior Ministry for stopping the international conference devoted to the 15th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.

But the ministry and The Hague administration refused Armenians' appeal regarding it groundless, APA reports.

Nureddin Aras said that Armenians' anxiety about the conference is to be considered as success of this action.

"Armenians proved once more that they are not right. The events we organized in The Hague worried Armenians. Dutch police rejected their appeal for prevention of the conference on the Khojaly genocide. One thing is clear for me now: We were wrong to keep silence for a long time while being right. We should widen the knowledge of the world community of the truth," he said.
