Azerbaijani captivated soldier not ask for asylum

23 February 2007 [20:26] - TODAY.AZ
The next letter of soldier of Azerbaijani Armed Forces Samir Mammadov, who was captured on December 24 by Armenians and at present being kept in Yerevan, was delivered to his family, soldier's uncle Vidadi Mammadov informed.

He said that Samir wrote only three words in the letter delivered by International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) - "I am fine, do not think much of me".

Mammadov also noted that Samir Mammadov's family members have been in ICRC Barda Office. In response to question about captive soldier's asking asylum from the third country, the office noted that they do not have any information about it, APA reports.

"The committee said that if they get appeal about Samir Mammadov's asking asylum from the third country, the correspondence will be stopped. As they did not receive this kind of appeal they continue corresponding. In case of appeal, UN will deal with this problem," Vidadi Mammadov said.
