Turkmen opposition leader arrested in Bulgaria

One of Turkmen opposition leaders, member of Vatan Movement, Russian citizen Annandurdi Hajiev has been arrested in Bulgaria.

He was arrested in Bulgarian city of Varna after Turkmen government's request by Interpol. He cannot be released on bail. The police arrested him without presenting him a translator or a representative of Russia.

The arrestee started a hunger strike as a protest against bans to receive phone calls and visits.

Vatan Movement accused the government of cooperating with one of authoritarian leaders in the world and called on European Union to impose pressures on Bulgaria, APA's bureau reports.
