Chief of Committee against Tortures meets with Akif Muradverdiyev

The chief of the Committee against Tortures Elchin Behbudov today met with Akif Muradverdiyev, former officer of President's Office, kept in the medical place of Penitentiary Service.

Elchin Behbudov told the APA that Muradverdiyev did not complain of his conditions and attitude towards him.

The committee chief noted that MUradverdiyev had a hand-stick and the state of his health was critical. He said Muradverdiyev suffers from several diseases.

Blood does not go to his brain and he has duodenal ulcer, and tumor of pancreas. He suffers from diabetes mellitus. Muradverdiyev is satisfied with the chief of the medical service Ismayil Hasanov, he said.

Behbudov said that he will appeal to the relevant bodies with regard to Muradverdiyev.

The committee chief noted that he will also appeal to the President for his pardon taking into account the state of health.

The certificate submitted by medical service to Muradverdiyev's lawyers shows that Akif Muradverdiyev suffers from vertebrobasilar insufficiency, diffuse sclerosis, asthenodepressive syndrome, hypotonia, chronic pancreatitis, duodenal ulcer, tumor of pancreas.

Muradverdiyev was sentenced to 6 years in the trial presided by the Judge of the Court of Grave Crimes. Akif Muradverdiyev faced charges on Article 179.3.2 (embezzlement), 308.2 (abuse of power), 311 (bribing), 313 (fraud) of the Criminal Code. The investigation into the case on charges under Article 28.278 (staging coup) and 28.220 (coup attempt) of the Criminal Code continues.
