17 February 2007 [17:40] - TODAY.AZ
Head of President's Press Service, Azer Gasimov, held a press conference on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Germany.

He said Azerbaijan attaches great importance to relations with Germany and the visit was very significant from the viewpoint of mutual cooperation. He noted that President Ilham Aliyev met with German Chancellor, Foreign Minister, Bundestag Chairman, and heads of Germany Azerbaijan Societies during his visit.

"Azerbaijani President and head of Bundestag discussed issues concerning mutual cooperation between the countries and interparliamentary relations. President Ilham Aliyev's attitude about not only Azerbaijan but also regional and global processes was interesting at the meetings and this was a sign of the strengthening of Azerbaijan's position in the world. The meeting with heads of Azerbaijani societies was important for the development of our Diaspora," he underscored.

Gasimov said six agreements were signed during the Germany-Azerbaijan Business Forum and German companies showed great interest in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan.

"The agreements don't prioritize investment making in Azerbaijan, but implementation of joint economic projects through domestic capital," he added.

Azer Gasimov denied any protest actions by fugitive Azerbaijanis during the visit, APA reports.
