National seminar on application of Convention on Chemical Weapons held in Foreign Ministry

Today national seminar has begun on application of Convention on Chemical Weapons in Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry (FM).

Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov made opening speech in the seminar and said that Azerbaijan joined the convention before and took commitments, fulfills them and will not deviate.

Saying that Azerbaijan takes both international and local measures to fulfill the commitments, the deputy minister noted that some amendments have been made to legislation, list have been made and submitted to Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

The representative of the organization Sergey Kiselyov said that FM is considered to be national institution for fulfillment of the convention.

"Azerbaijan has done much in this sphere up to now," Kiselyov noted.

He said that Azerbaijan being oil country has developed its chemical industry too, APA reports.

It should be noted that, the seminar organized by FM, EU and OPCW will be held till February 2.
