Russian Minister met with Azerbaijani Interior Minister Ramil Usubov and exchanged views on struggle against delinquency, and discussed bilateral and multilateral state of the cooperation, joint efforts for public security and adequate steps for strengthening the activity against terrorism, threats and other dangers.
The ministers stressed the importance of improving the activity in struggle against delinquency in CIS states within the realization of conception of improving cooperation till 2010.
Ramil Usubov said Azerbaijan and Russia have historical relations and the cooperation between the law enforcement bodies is expanding. The minister highly estimated the mutual measures taken for struggle against transnational delinquency, illegal turnover of weapons, radioactive substances, narcotics as well as human traffic and illegal migration.
Rashid Nurgaliyev said as a result the cooperation of law enforcement bodies of the two countries 58 Azerbaijani citizens committed crimes in Azerbaijan and hiding in Russia were handed over to their country last year.
Russian minister stressed the importance of struggle against delinquency in borderline regions. Nurgaliyev said he had met with Azerbaijani cadets studying in Russian Police Academy and believe that they will be professionals.
The meeting continued behind closed doors after the protocol on mutual relations of Azerbaijani and Russian Interior ministers in 2007-2008, a joint statement and the protocol on the partnership between Azerbaijani Interior Troops Main Department and Russian Interior Troops Central Headquarters were signed, APA reports.
