Romania intends to begin Bucharest process

08 December 2006 [13:31] - TODAY.AZ
Romania will show its sensibility to frozen conflict after it enters to EU, said Romania Foreign Minister Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu.

He told the APA Eastern-Europe bureau that Romania plans to work in some spheres after EU membership and also will begin Bucharest process which includes the cooperation with South Caucasus Republics, Moldova and some other countries. The analogue of this process is Barcelona process which exists between North Africa countries and EU. He also mentioned about Europe Neighborhood Policy.

"The existence of neighbour countries where stability was established serves to our interests," he said.

He also noted that their country intends to become donor country. He called alternative energy sources to be priority issue for Europe and stressed that they will cooperate with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and also did not rule out the negotiations with Iran.

The minister thought that the construction of pipeline delivering oil from Georgia to Italy via Romania, Serbia and Croatia would be suitable. He also touched upon trade turnover of his country. "The level of trade with Caucasus countries, Russia and Ukraine is undesirable," he said.
