Japanese Emperor's birthday marked in Baku

Present at the event were representatives of the Presidential Administration, Milli Majlis, ministries, non-governmental organizations, political parties and diplomatic corps.

Ambassador Tadahiro Abe said that emperor is the symbol of the unity of the Japanese people, and his birthday is marked in Japan as a national holiday.

According to the ambassador, Azerbaijan-Japan relations are very well developed and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev's visit to Japan in March this year, his meetings with government officials showed that Azerbaijan is the reliable partner in the international arena. Azerbaijan-Japan State Commission resumed its work after 5-year break convening its meeting in November in Baku. Ambassador pointed out that it would create additional opportunities for economic cooperation between two countries.

Ambassador stressed that Japan is the donor country committed to improvement of Azerbaijan population's living standards, building democratic state, and supporting economic and social reforms in the country. The country will continue to assist in rebuilding economic infrastructure, constructing schools, improving water supply etc.

According to first deputy chairman of the Milli Majlis Ziyafet Asgarov, after regaining its independence, bilateral relations entered a new era of development with national leader Heydar Aliyev's visit to Japan in 1998 and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev's visit in March of this year gave an impetus to the economic relations between the two countries.

Asgarov expressed gratitude to the people and government of Japan for the assistance and offered his congratulations on the occasion of the emperor's birthday. AzerTAg
