Azeri delegation participated in conference on combat against corruption

The conference was organized at support of Transparency International, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the governments of Guatemala.

At the action, also were taking part members of the Commission on combat against corruption under the State Administration Council of the Azerbaijan Shahin Aliyev, Fuad Alaskarov, Bakhtiyar Aliyev, the head of department on combat against corruption of State Office of Public Prosecutor Namig Askarov, other employees and representatives of the nongovernmental organizations functioning in Azerbaijan.

At the Conference, discussed were measures being realized in the field of fighting corruption, the problems in this sphere, ways of their solution, the prospects of international cooperation in combat against corruption and other questions.

In work of the conference consisted of plenary session and workers in sectors, devoted to various themes, took part about 1000 representatives form more than 60 countries - high-ranking officials, representatives of private sector, experts on combat against corruption, employees of the nongovernmental organizations and scientists.

The delegation of Azerbaijan has met with representatives of the United Nations, Transparency International, Initiatives of Transparency in the Trade Industry, USAID, the World Bank, the International Bank of Development and other international structures.

Besides, the delegation had bilateral discussions with representatives of the USA, China, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, the Great Britain, Guatemala and other countries of Latin America.

The delegation of the Azerbaijan Republic also has met a number of responsible persons of the organization Transparency International and discussed questions of carrying out in following year in Baku regional session of this organization.

At conference and meetings, the participants have been in detail informed on the measures accepted in Azerbaijan in the field of combat against corruption, problems in this area and plans on coming years.
