Ilham Aliyev: "No solution to regional problems without Azerbaijan"

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev visited Shamkir.

First the President visited Heydar Aliyev monument in the center of Shamkir.

Then he took part in the opening ceremony of Heydar Aliyev Museum. The head of the country also participated in the foundation of Olympic Sport Complex, APA reports.

At the meeting with residents the President stated that Shamkir is developing day-by-day. He noted that there are favorable conditions for the development of industry and agriculture. The President estimated the construction of Shamkir-Gazkh road as a great event and stressed that he will give instructions to the reconstruction of the roads in the villages of Shamkir.

"There should not be a great difference between the capital and regions. Though Azerbaijan is not a developed country there are a lot of achievements in this field. After the commissioning of the power stations the energy demand of Azerbaijan will be completely covered. Our country will even export energy.

Azerbaijan is a powerful country in the region and no solution to regional problems without Azerbaijan is possible," the President said.

Touching upon the construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline Ilham Aliyev said that it will be put in operation by the end of the year. He also noted that Azerbaijan has assumed the expenses of Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalak-Gars railway line.

After the meeting with the residents the President took part in the opening ceremony of Shamkir-Gazakh road. US $31.6 mn has been spent on the construction of the road. There are 9 bridges over the road. At the end Ilham Aliyev visited Zarifa Aliyeva Park, Shamkir poultry farm and a new school in Fizuli settlement.
