Turkey Parliament to recognize Algeria genocide by France

Rally on "Stop, France! Armenian genocide is false!" was staged in Galatasaray Square, Istanbul.

The meeting was planned to be staged outside the France consulate in Istanbul, but the police dispersed the protesters.

Dogu Perinjek, Labour Party leader told the APA Turkey bureau exclusively that analogical protest actions will be staged in Germany and France, too and if France recognizes the false Armenian genocide Turkey will boycott France goods from October 13.

"They cannot arrest all Turks for denying the false genocide," he said.

The party leader called on Azerbaijani parliamentarians to adopt a law on Khojali genocide, APA reports.

Turkey Prime Minister Rajab Tayyib Erdogan said that France should be careful with its decision.

"Could they arrest me if I deny the false genocide? Turkey is not a week state and no state can treat us like that. This is the problem of Armenia and Turkey. France should not interfere in the problem, otherwise it will harm itself. France will meet with a severe reaction of Turkey," he said.

Turkey Foreign Minister Abdulla Gul talking with his French counterpart on phone said that the adoption of the law on false genocide by France parliament will harm the relations between the two states. He also stated that France companies will not be allowed to participate in all international tenders in Turkey.

Turkey Parliament Justice Commission will discuss AKP and ANAP draft law on Algeria genocide by on October 11. If France recognizes the false Armenian genocide Turkey will recognize Algeria genocide. According to the law those who deny this will be sentenced for three years in prison.

France Interior Minister Nicholas Sarkozy said France parliament might not adopt the law on Armenian genocide.

He said France will deny the genocide if Turkey opens the borders with Armenia sets up a joint commission for analyzing 1915 events and remove the article on insulting Turkism from Turkey's Crime Code.
