Kazakhstan President discussed Caspian gas pipe construction with US Energy Secretary

"Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, at a meeting with Samuel Bodman, US Secretary of Energy, discussed construction of a Caspian gas pipeline and peaceful atom development," Karim Massimov, Vice Premier, Minister of Economy and Budget Planning has stated this at a briefing for journalists.

"Different aspects of the energy co-operation and peaceful atom development were discussed at the meeting. A special statement will be issued on this," he has stressed adding that he meant a programme of "turning the highly enriched uranium into low enriched uranium and a number of other projects related with the peaceful atom development."

The VP also has said that "activities of the US energy companies in Kazakhstan and ways of hydrocarbon transportation to foreign markets have been addressed as well."

Besides, the President of Kazakhstan and the US Secretary of Energy also discussed possible construction of a Caspian gas pipeline. "No decision has been made so far, discussions and consultations are underway. They will result in a separate statement," Mr. Massimov has explained, Kazakhstan Today correspondent reports.
