MNS chief attends conference in Turkey

A delegation of the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan led by Lieutenant-General Eldar Mahmudov was from 11 to 13 September in Istanbul, Turkey to participate in the ninth Session of the Conference of the heads of security bodies of Turkish speaking nations including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Top-tanking representatives of the security bodies of Russia and Ukraine attended the event in an observer capacity.

Enhancement of cooperation in fighting various manifestations of the transnational organized crime topped the meeting's agenda.

Speaking on the subject "Ensuring Security in the International Transport Corridors and Transnational Energy Networks," Minister of National Security of Azerbaijan Lieutenant-General Eldar Mahmudov described detection and prevention of possible threats to economic reforms and international projects underway in Azerbaijan, as well as of penetration of terrorists into the country's economic infrastructure as priority of his Ministry's activity.

He said separatist regimes and movements, "uncontrolled territories" and "hot spots" negatively affects not only political and economic situation in the countries they exist but also threaten the international energy and transport security as a whole.

In the course of the visit, Minister Eldar Mahmudov had a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts.
