Joint meeting of Azerbaijan and Georgia for delimitation and demarcation of borders

The joint meeting of the Governmental Commissions of Georgia and Azerbaijan for delimitation and demarcation of state borders was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The eighth joint meeting of the Governmental Commission of Georgia for the delimitation and demarcation of the Georgian state border and the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the delimitation and demarcation of the Azeri state border was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on August 3-4, 2006.

Giorgi Manjgaladze, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Commission represented the Georgian side, while Khalaf Khalafov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Commission represented the Azeri side.

The seventh meeting of the Commissions was held in summer of 2005. In April, 2006 a meeting of the Commission Chairmen was held within the frames of Mr. Khalafov's working visit to Georgia, which allowed the sides to get a better understanding of each other's approaches and positions and reach an agreement on the necessity of speeding up a delimitation process.

The eighth meeting will focus on the uncoordinated sections of the Georgian-Azeri state borderline and will proceed with its work to reach final agreement.
