Azeri, Turkish and Georgian envoys hold news conderence at the UN

Permanent representatives of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia to the United Nations Organization - Baki Ilkin, Yashar Aliyev and Revaz Adamia have held in New York a news conference on the occasion of official opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Main Export Pipeline after Heydar Aliyev.

The representative of Turkey Baki Ilkin has named the BTC a corner stone of the East-West power corridor, being an alternative route for transportation of oil from Azerbaijan and the Central Asia on the world markets. He noted, that owing to this pipeline the Ceyhan port shortly would become the second Rotterdam. As he said, this corridor becomes a powerful route at full connection of three large projects - the projects of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum and Trans-Caucasian natural gas.

The representative of Azerbaijan to United Nations Yashar Aliyev, having regarded the BTC as the major project of the century, has noted, that the pipeline will transform the Caspian basin into significant region, which will bring huge contribution to energy needs of the world, correspondent of AzerTAg reported, referring to Anatolian News Agency.

And the Georgian diplomat Revaz Adamia has emphasized essential role of the BTC MEP in strengthening regional security.
