Russia unable to confirm execution of embassy workers

Russia's Foreign Ministry says it is still unable to confirm claims by militants in Iraq that four employees of the Russian Embassy have been executed.

Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said Russia is still trying to verify the reports.

A coalition of militant groups headed by Al-Qaeda said on June 25 that the four had been killed because of Moscow's failure to withdraw Russian troops from Chechnya.

The embassy employees were kidnapped in Baghdad on June 3.
