Abbasali Hasanov: "No intervention in Iran's affairs by Azerbaijan"

27 May 2006 [18:38] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tehran Saturday stressed that his country has not intervened in Iran's domestic affairs.

Speaking in a press conference to mark Azerbaijan's national day at the embassy premises, Abbasali Hasanov referred to some earlier reports concerning his country's intervention in Iran's affairs and said, "We consider the different peoples, including the Balouchis, the Lors and the Arabs, as our own brothers."

He further viewed such allegations as rumors which are aimed at impairing Iran-Azerbaijan relations, Fars News Agency reports.

Regarding a congregation of protestors in front of the Iranian embassy in Baku, he said that there were only a few protestors there who were dispersed by the police and that the embassy and diplomats have not been harmed.
