12 Azerbaijani detained in Tehran

Azerbaijani protester Ibrahim Azerpur was killed in the clash with government forces during the rally in Sulduz, Iran on 24 May.

The South Azerbaijan National Revival Movement (SANRM) bureau in Baku told APA that one protester was seriously injured during the clash in Marand city. Rally organizer in Tabriz, Ogtay Tabrizli told APA that some of the protesters, who were informing foreign media about the demonstrations in the city, have been arrested.

Intelligence service is tapping telephone talks of persons suspected of rally organizing. Ogtay Tabrizli also said that rallies will go on in Tabriz and a protest action will be staged outside the Iranian parliament on 27 May.

The spokesman of the World Azerbaijanis Congress bureau in Baku Ali Nijat told APA that during the protest action outside the office of "Iran" newspaper in Tehran, protesters Bahruz Safari, Said Matinpur, Jamil Ganimlum, Abbas Eyvaz, Gulamrza Fazil, Yever Alinijat, Huseyn Nemati , Ahmad Hasani, Ahmad Huseyn Shahid, Samad Babuyi, Ali Namver and Elshan Nurader were detained by Iranain police.
