26-30 May 2006 NATO PA spring session

Some 340 parliamentarians from North America and Europe are expected to attend the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's Spring session to be held in Paris, France from Friday May 26 to Tuesday May 30.

The two plenary Sessions on Friday 26 and Tuesday 30 will be addressed by a distinguished group of guest speakers from the French government including Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy and Defense Minister Mich?le Alliot-Marie; by Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Mikheil Saakashvili, President of the republic of Georgia. An intervention by Alexander Milinkevich, presidential candidate of the opposition in Belarus, is also scheduled.

The closing session will be marked by the presence of NATO Secretary General Jaap De Hoop Scheffer, all the high representatives of the North Atlantic Council and Saceur General James Jones.

NATO PA's five committees (Political, Defense and Security, Science and Technology, Civil Dimension of Security, Economics and Security) will meet on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May and be addressed by guest speakers, AzerTAg reports.
