A group of Israeli parliamentarians visiting Azerbaijan held a press conference today.

Israeli parliamentarian Joseph Shagal said that during the visit, he had meetings at the Foreign Ministry, Industry and Energy, Culture and Tourism Ministries as well as at the parliament and State Committee for Azerbaijanis Living Abroad (SCALA).

The issue on opening Azerbaijan's Embassy in Israeli was discussed at the meeting with the Foreign Minister. The issues concerning Israeli journalists' tour to Azerbaijan for the purpose of having thorough information about Azerbaijan as well as strengthening of the Diaspora were discussed during the talks at the SCALA.

"The officials we had talks with expressed their intention to open the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Israel. However, they noted that there is no need to make haste as it is a sensitive issue," Mr.Shagal said.

According to APA, Shagal also said that they touched on several interesting issues during the talks with Industry and Energy Minister. He said the Israeli side proposed construction of a new pipeline from Israel's Ashgelon city which will join the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline.

"Baku oil can be transported to Asghelon via this new pipeline and to India and Far East in tankers. It is profitable from financial aspect as well. Natig Aliyev said the project is interesting and he will have talks with Israeli Energy Minister for this," the Israeli parliamentarian informed.
