Fresh reports suggest that a new round of high-level talks between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan may have been facilitated by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Middle East Eye website has reported, citing regional sources, that Azerbaijan and Armenia are set to sign a memorandum of understanding in Washington, D.C.

According to sources, U.S. President Donald Trump will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the White House for the signing ceremony. The two leaders are expected to sign a letter of intent rather than a draft peace agreement. This event could provide Trump with the diplomatic breakthrough he has been seeking in the region since last month.

The Armenian Prime Minister's Office has neither confirmed nor denied the information about the planned Washington meeting, stating, "At this time, we cannot confirm or deny the information circulating in the press and on social media regarding the expected visit of Prime Minister Pashinyan to the United States."

This anticipated summit at the White House follows a meeting between the two leaders in Abu Dhabi in July. After that meeting, both leaders indicated that their countries could finalize the main principles of the agreement within a few months and then proceed to initial it.

Armenia and Azerbaijan are preparing to announce their intention to reach a peace agreement later this week in Washington, Azernews reports, citing U.S. media outlets.

According to reports, U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to host Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the White House on Friday. The anticipated meeting is being seen as a significant diplomatic step toward resolving decades of conflict between the two countries.

The expected announcement follows recent talks between the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders held in Abu Dhabi, where both sides reportedly made progress on the key terms of normalization.

No official statements have been released from Baku and Yerevan yet.
