"Jamaat-al-Muvahidun" members wanted to destroy Azerbaijani authority

Ministry of National Security (MNS) has spread announcement on members of "Jamaat-al-Muvahidun" criminal group who were convicted to long term imprisonment by the verdict of the Court on Grave Criminal Cases.

According to APA, the group members were imprisoned during the operation held last year in July. Group members Baku resident ilkin Ismayilov (1982), Faiq Karimov (1984), Farid Aslanov (1983), Emil Novruzov (1978), Emin Akbarov (1985), Tarlan Alimardanov (1985), and resident of Agstafa Vusal Bayramov(1985) were convicted with Articles of Criminal Code on preparation to terrorism, illegal explosive acquiring, keeping and being in contact with criminal group in intention beforehand and they were imprisoned.

Ismayil Omarov has collected men around him for taking part in "jihad" in Iraq and Afghanistan aimed at terrorism purposes. It was decided to send the group members to a camp in Middle East for getting prepared. Ismayil Omarov has robbed together with Rauf Dostuyev, Elchin Jafarov, Rashid Aliyev who were imprisoned in 2004, Nazir Dostuyev's house-Rauf Dostuyev’s uncle. After that for avoiding the responsibility, Ismayil Omarov has left for Turkey and stayed there till April 6, 2005, and then he returned to Baku. He had gathered a new group here in Baku.

The group members planned to destroy physically law-enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan who cooperates with Anti-terror state members, to make explosions in the embassies and representations of the USA, Israel, and Russia in Baku city as well as in State Oil Company in the capital, National Bank, the Government House as well as other establishments of strategical significance.

They wanted to make explosions among the crowd including recreation centers to threaten them, after that they intended to spread this news through internet to people. By the verdict of the Court Ismayilov was sentenced for 15 years, Karimov and Aslanov for 10 years, Bayramov, Akbarov, Alimardanov and Novruzov have been sentenced for 9 years term of imprisonment.
