Azerbaijan will refuse European Parliament mission to hold investigation only in Nakhchivan

12 April 2006 [01:07] - TODAY.AZ
Official approval from Baku for the delegation of 10 members sent by European Parliament's mission to Nakhchivan to investigate destruction of claimed Armenian monuments is possible on condition that the mission will implement bilateral investigation.

President Administration's social-political department chief Ali Hasanov has stated that sending of mission to Nakhchivan was adopted by the suggestion of representative from England: "Azerbaijan is a country open to the world. We want the entire world to see the vandalism committed by Armenians and Azerbaijanis work in Armenia. This should not be unilateral, but mutual. Why does European Parliament mission visit the place where Armenians claim that their monuments have been destructed by Azerbaijanis? But the mission does not visit Shusha and other places where Azerbaijani monuments are destructed. (Armenians have destructed Azerbaijani monuments under the territories of occupation). We suggest establishing fact-finding mission in European Parliament and the mission visit the territories of Azerbaijan including occupied territories and the territory of Armenia. If the mission tries to conduct this investigation only in Nakhchivan we will protest it."
