18 March 2006 [10:16] - TODAY.AZ
Afshar Suleymani is indignant at the World Azerbaijanis Congress Chairman's words.

"We will see what profit such statements will bring to Azerbaijan. Although I am Iranian Ambassador, I am Azerbaijani living in Iran. Both Iran and Azerbaijan are homeland for me. Some are even unable to earn their living can not help themselves, but talk against Iran and interfere with Iranian domestic affairs. Naturally, it will not bring profit to Azerbaijan," Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Afshar Suleymani told journalists.

He said that he was indignant at the World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC) Chairman, Javad Dererkhti's words. Mr. Suleymani said that such statements offend Iranian people and Azerbaijanis living in Iran, APA reports.

"We both are Muslims and neighbors and will never move from our lands".

Mr. Suleymani called Derekhti's statement as interference in the internal affairs of Iran.

"His words are contradictory. He says that he couldn’t collect even a coin in the WAC foundation. How does he speak against Iran, even if he didn't manage to collect a coin?"

Suleymani stated that Azerbaijanis living in Iran can play an important role in creation of Azerbaijani lobby abroad.
Suleymani issued an intimidating statement.

"Many parties and organizations want to make a move. We haven't allowed them. Such statements here can cause problem in future. It is necessary to end these matters. The state shouldn't allow a person to speak against its neighbor in the official event. I reiterate that such people will not bring any profit to Azerbaijan".

The Ambassador stated that conference participants agreed that no speeches would be made against Iran.

"He can not represent Azerbaijan or Azerbaijanis living in Iran. He claims that he is representing 35 million Azerbaijani. Who entitled him to?"

Suleymani said that he understands what the purpose of such a statement is.

"They want to join and create a whole Azerbaijan".

Responding to these statements, Javad Derekhti told that Azerbaijan's a democratic country and he had the right to express his views here.

"I don't know why Iran is jealous of this matter. I, as an independent person, expressed my views and aired the stance of our organization. Such statements have no connection with Azerbaijan".
