?aurizio Pavesi: "OSCE Baku office does not see any need in dialogue between authorities and opposition"

01 March 2006 [12:37] - TODAY.AZ
We have not reached success at meetings which we organized between the authorities and the opposition following the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, the OSCE Baku office head Mauricio Pavesi said in a statement.

Pavesi noted there is no need in continuation of such meetings after the elections. "We made a decision that the OSCE Baku office would assist the local government only in resolving the technical problems," said Pavesi. In his view, political parties must come out with such initiative themselves, Trend reports.

The OSCE Baku office head said also, it would be wrong to call the workshop of 27-28 February the meeting between the authorities and the opposition, as this meeting has been organized with the purpose of resolving some technical problems.

"Foreign experts, officials from the presidential staff office and Milli Mejlis were also involved. Our goal is to make clear what is good and what is bad for Azerbaijan," Pavesi said.
