European Parliament hosted conference on Khojali genocide

The European Parliament based in Brussels hosted on Friday a large-scientific and practical conference dedicated to 14th anniversary of Khojaly genocide at the initiative of the Council of World Azerbaijani (CWA).

The event titled "The role of European Neighborhood Policy in the process of resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict," brought together over 200 delegates. In the first half of the day the conference took reports in English, while in the second half – in Azerbaijani. The speakers to the event were Javad Derakhti, the chairman of CWA, Gulamrza Sabri Tabrizi, vice president of the Coordinating Council of the World Azerbaijanis, a British professor, Erik Figel, an Austrian professor, Tomma Golds, an American professor, Rahim Shabazi, the head of the CWA office in the United States, Arif Mammadov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belgium, Fuad Humbatov, the Azerbaijani deputy Ambassador to France, Fuad Tanlay, a Turkish scientist from Brussels, Prof. Pasha Galbinur, the head of the Baku office of the CWA, MP Havva Mammadova, the chairman of the Council of Women of the CWA, MP Sabir Rustamkhanli, and Seyfaddin Altay, a Turkish scientist.

The reports dealt with the Khojali genocide, occupation of the Armenian lands by Azerbaijan, grave results of the Armenian aggressions which lasted for 15 years, Armenian terror and barbarism against the Turkish world over the past 100 years, the Baku office of the CWA told Trend.

In the second half of the event a film "Karabakh Shikastas"’ directed by Amir Pahlavan was demonstrated, and the participants in the event got familiar with the photos reflecting the Khojali genocide. They also distributed materials, books, brochures, dealing with Armenian occupation and terror against Azerbaijan.

After the forum a large ceremony to commemorate the victims of the tragedy was organized at Royal Crown hotel.

On Friday they also held a rally in front of the NATO's headquarters. On Saturday a protest action will be arranged in front of a building of the European Court.
