Peace talks to continue in Washington early March

13 February 2006 [16:25] - TODAY.AZ
The negotiations on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement will be continued in Washington in early March.

"Consultations will be held by the Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs," says the statement issued by the OSCE MG upon completion of the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents in France.

"Various aspects of the further discussions will be considered. Despite intense talks certain positions of the parties remained unchanged. Nevertheless, the Presidents highly assessed the negotiations process and instructed the FMs to search for new ways of settlement with the support of the mediators," it notes.

After the Presidents' meeting U.S. Co-chair Steven Mann told journalists, "The Presidents discussed the whole scope of issues referring to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The atmosphere of the meeting was favorable. However no obvious changes occurred. We should choose the direction to follow. There are no results; no agreement was achieved."

Steven Mann informed that February 13 the Co-chairs will leave for Brussels to submit their report to the OSCE CiO. He also said the assessment of the Rambouillet talks will be given in Washington.
